History of Our Church

  

On March 12, 1968 Reverend Rubin L. Creel, acting on a vision from God, makes a plea over KNDI radio program, “Gospel Music Time”, to meet at his home to organize a Church.  Nine people answered his plea and thus, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church opens its doors on April 28, 1968.  The first worship service is held in two classrooms at Aiea Elementary School. During this same year, because of rapid growth in membership, TMBC relocates to a Quonset Hut at 63 Chicago Avenue in Halawa.

 

 

1969 - Trinity becomes a member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc.

 

1970 - As a result of continual growth in membership, TMBC holds service for two years in a converted theater in Aiea.  

 

1972 - TMBC becomes a member of the Pacific Southwest Region of American Baptist Churches. Over the next five years Trinity worships in a tent located in Pearl City.

   

1983 - The Voices of Trinity records two gospel music albums.

 

1986 - The congregation moved to its new 800-seat sanctuary.

 

1993 - The Reverend Rubin L. Creel Child Care Ministry was developed.

 

1997 - Air conditioning is installed in the main sanctuary and an illuminating marquee board is also installed on the Church's lawn.

 

1999 - The “Phone Tree”, automated voice message delivery system is installed.

 

2002 - The former sanctuary is renovated and converted into the Administrative Office.

 

2003 - The Reverend Rubin L. Creel Education Building is opened.

 

2004 - Minister Alexis Conner becomes the first ordained female minister at TMBC. Also, the Church begin annual participation in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade.

  

2005 - During an eighteen month transtion, Reverends Alexis Conner, Jack Fields, Chris Keesee, Timothy Murray and Latonia Parker seves the pastoral needs of the congregation.

2006 - A thirty-six week course called "Becoming Disciples through Bible Study" is established.

2007 - TMBC hosts "Hope Gathering".  TMBC becomes a regional member of the American Baptist Church of Los Angeles and re-establishes membership with the Progressive National Baptist Conventions, Inc.

 

2008 - TMBC celebrates it's 40th Anniversary.
